Pre-Concert Talk:

Dr. Marian Staats

One Night Only!

6:30 p.m., April 29th

St. Luke Lutheran Church

We are pleased to present a pre-concert talk by Marian Staats. Dr. Staats is a Professor of English and Co-Coordinator of Environmental Studies at Oakton Community College, where she teaches courses in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and, through a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, developed curriculum in Environmental Humanities.

Professor Staats will discuss how in Considering Matthew Shepard, Craig Hella Johnson calls for us to confront violence, to reflect on our own collusion in abuse of the planet and other living beings, and consider how we might imagine more loving, less violent ways of living together.
